The photos below are progression photos of different projects done or currently under
construction. Different techniques are sometimes used from project to project to accomplish
desired ends. On the Lockesland project owned by Nina Pearlmutter and Orrin Frink, the fabric
form was coated with urethane rubber coating before it was sewn together while the Petra project
had the coating sprayed into the fabric after it was attached to the dome base.
These projects are examples of built in place technology, not light weight transportables.

Garage construction to the left began in late fall of
2006. Dome size: 35 foot diameter X 30 feet tall.
Fabric form consisting of polyester fabric sealed
with moisture cure urethane coating.
The main living dome construction began in March
of 2007. Dome Size: 55 foot diameter X 30 feet
tall.
The pictures of the early stages of construction
have not turned up. The large windows with the
round tops were built in place, piecing in
Styrofoam and covering it inside and out with
urethane foam. The outside was sanded down
before coating and texturing. This is not the easy
way to do it. We have now developed a very
accurate system for casting high density foam
into customized molds for dormers, overhangs,
eyebrows etc.

Spang Builders did a nice job of framing the
interior and flashing the dormers and connecting
building with the fabric we provided. Nina was
not in a hurry to finish this project, taking over
as the general contractor after the dry in and
framing was complete.
Nina had us come back in the summer of 2009
and finish the exterior. We did cosmetic touch
up and minor repairs with urethane rubber caulk
before the coating process involving 6 coats of
urethane coating with roofing granules blown in
the early coats for texture.
The exposed concrete shell needed to be
encapsulated with foam and sanded before the
coating process could start. This involved the
garage openings and the front entrance door
opening.
